Day 4 - Kyoto

Now we have reached my favorite subject, my stay in Kyoto. It is really a very memorable trip for us. Everything turned rosy here. :D Thank God~

And as usual, we woke up early to take shinkansen, which only need 15 mins from Osaka-Kyoto. And we reached Kyoto before 9am. Went to their tourist center to ask our hotel location with map, plus buying Kyoto 2-day-pass @ 2000yen/pax. This is super useful, since it covers the buses and subways in Kyoto.

And as usual as well, after reaching Kyoto, we spent quite a little bit of time to search for our hotel (sigh~). We finally found our hotel at 10am, since it's too early for check in, we just left our backpack after filling out our necessary information. Phew..., at least we got the weight off our back.

Our next destination: FUSHIMI INARI.

For those who does not know Fushimi Inari, let me use this pic to remind your memory.

Does this look familiar?

How about this?

Ehmm.., if you are still clueless, did you ever watch "Memoir of a Geisha"? There is a scene about those red gates where young Sayuri ran through.

Well..., if you still do not have any idea, please refer to here and here.

Entrance to this shrine is free. CK noticed that in Japan, entrance to shrine is free, whereas entrance to temple is always charged. Hmm..., wondering what that is?

This shrine turns out to be covering a very huge compound. From the entrance itself, we need to walk a bit before reaching the torii gate. And then only our journey started!

There are thousands of torii gates, and all are donated by big companies asking for a good business year, since Inari is the God of Wealth. :D

With our series of not so nice experience for the past 2 days, I offered a prayer at this shrine, asking that my journey to be blessed with safety and better luck. And I got it!!! So it really works! :)

The torii gates will lead you up to the top of the mountain (or I think the top lah.., since it's so tiring to climb up all those stairs, in a very cold windy day somemore). But the view is breathtaking. It's so serene, so peaceful, no wonder Japanese lives long life.

We saw lots of bamboos there and this.

Naughty turtles.

Actually we took lots of pictures of the shrine, since it's just so huge and so beautiful. Will share out after I uploaded the pics. :)

Afterward, we walked around Fushimi-ko looking for lunch. We stumbled upon a shop, fully packed, and fully Japanese, meaning menu and language spoken only Jap, NO ENGLISH.

We used our ever useful camera again to snap the food sample outside for our choice of food. I have always wanted to try the Ton Katsu Don, so without any pics reference, I just told them what I wanted, luckily they understood. :)

And this is my food. Drool, guys..! And look at the portion served!

If memory serves me right, it costed me around 1000yen for that set. I have forgotten what CK ordered anyway.

After lunch, we still lingered around the area, and I stumbled upon this delicious goodness of fruit made in heaven! Wuahahhaha~~~

And it only costed me 300yen for the whole box! And I finished it myself, when CK whined only I gave him 1 or 2 pieces. It's just too good to share, heheehe~ So happy when eating the strawberries. Now I miss it already!

The strawberries were so sweet and fresh and different from the one that we can buy in Msia. Also, the strawberries bought in Fushimi-ko is definitely a lot cheaper! In Tokyo, they sell 1000yen/box. (-_-)

From here, we went straight to the famous Kiyomizudera.

We used our day pass to take a bus to the temple. Entrance is 600yen/person. The bus was fully packed with tourists and dropped us across the street from the temple. From the drop point, it's still a long walk uphill, around 15-20mins.

And we spotted this couple upon reaching the temple. Sweet rite?

I have always wanted to try the kimono, but no luck. Maybe next time.

Views of Kiyomizudera.

My failed photography attempt. :D

Pics with some cute Jap gals

Some people drinks directly from this dragon mouth. Huh~

After the Kiyomizudera, we went back to our ryokan, Matsui Honkan.

I will blog about it in details in the next entry, since it really deserves an entry by its own. :D

Stay tuned yeah!
