Genting Highland Revisited - 14th Nov 2009

My parents and bro with SIL were visiting me before my maternity leave ended. The main reason they came? Food, of course! Since Mom was chanting about Shogun so much, that they just couldn't resist the temptation anymore and decided to try out by themselves.

Now.., my family always visit KL for the last 10 years, until they are quite bored with it. So for this time around, I suggested to visit Genting Highland, especially the Chin Swee Temple, and they all agreed whole heartedly.

Luckily, CK received Genting Highland vouchers which can be used to get free rooms in First World Hotel. A call to there resulted that rooms were fully booked by 14th Nov, so as an alternative, we used another vouchers to get discounted room charges in Theme Park Hotel. Instead of full price room (RM250++ if not wrong), we paid only RM120 for a room, with extra charges for subpeak season (weekends).

Picked them up from airport and went for a chicken rice lunch before we departed to Genting. Since it was end of the year, understandably the weather was cold! I brought pillows for my gal, however forgot the blankie. :S

After checking in and dropping off our things, we went for the Chin Swee Temple, BUT, it was drizzling by then. Sigh...., so unlucky, or so we thought. We went for an early dinner at the vegetarian restaurant there, and things got better!

First of all, we were all very surprised at the food served. It was delicious! Even for my Dad who never like vegetarian food, he found the palate delectable.

We forgot to snap the pics of the soup, which was really aromatic, as it was double boiled. I always love double boiled soup, especially if boiled long enough (like several hours).

Now for the best food, we all voted for the unassuming fried mushroom! It's really a must try. Crispy, glazed with sour and sour caramel. And that only costed us RM145 for 5 adults. Cheap!

And by the time we finished our dinner, the rain has stopped and the weather cleared. Just perfect!

When me and CK last visited the temple on September, the weather was clear with a nice blue sky. For this time around, the weather was cold and foggy, which changed the view of the temple so drastically.

Which is better? Both also breathtakingly beautiful and unique. But the fog does contribute to the feeling of being high above the sky, and makes everything seem heavenly.
