Cameron Highland Trip

Wow.., it's been 1 month plus since I last updated my blog! Where had all the time gone? Let me update my Japan trip when I am free next time.

*Blaming my boss for keeping me so busy for the past month. :P (heheh.., boss, if you happened to read, joking only)*

My darling husband decided to let me have fun before the little one's due date, so we decided to have a jaunt to Cameron Highland (impromptu) last Saturday. Thanks, darling~

We asked his nieces to join us, as we know they need some outings and fun as much as we do, somemore with the exam just over and they stayed at home during the holiday. However, only Elaine agreed to join us.

We departed quite early on Saturday morning, around 7.30am. On the way to Cameron, we stopped by a famous waterfall, Lata Iskandar, and had a little dip there. Ooooooh.., Heaven, the water was so cooling..., I just can't help to stay a little bit longer there. I seem to develop a type of fondness for waterfall these days, thanx to hubby.

Out from the waterfall, there are several stalls that sell local speciality, what else if not Tongkat Ali? I never know how Tongkat Ali looks like, so I am not sure whether this is fake or original.

And I found another treasure that I have never heard of, Cendawan Susu Harimau (Tiger's milk mushroom aka Lignosus spp), which according to the seller, was formed from tiger's milk. And it is a cure for asthma, cancer, forgot what else. Well.., how to consume it? Grind it into powder and mix with water, drink everyday until you are cured.

The cost? RM50 per 100 gram, huh....., again, not sure how true this is, until I found this article http://www.fungaldiversity.org/fdp/sfdp/15-2.pdf

We continued our journey to Cameron. The journey itself is quite a feat, with all the spiralling road. Elaine definitely suffered from it, as for me, I kept on singing and forgot about getting dizzy, hehehe~

Our first stop was in Cameron Valley Tea Plantation. So green, so serene and so fragrant!!! I love it! It's so nice to keep in touch with nature once in a while. We sat down on the cafe and had a couple of tea. Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the ambience or even the water itself, the tea that we had was so deliciously fragrant!

My hubby kind of fall in love with the tea and he bought a box of the Lemon flavored tea that we tasted there. But.., how come it tastes so different when we had it at home in KL?

We arrived Cameron by around 1.00pm, and with growling stomach, we decided to look for food first of course. And we found this small restaurant tucked outside Rosa Pasadena Hotel, it's called Palm Leaf Garden, quite famous for its Thai food, kononnya. (I got the info from Internet).

I had the pineapple fried rice, which was good, whereas hubby and Elaine ordered Pad Thai and not up to standard. We ordered Tom Yam as well as Thai Fish Cake.

After feeding, we continue our journey to Cactus Point. Hubby is very keen to get some cactus in his office, to liven up the environment and cactus is easy to maintain (really?)

Look at the varities of cactus!

And flowers.

Afterward, we were supposed to go to Rose Garden, however, we found out nothing interesting about it, so we cancel the trip and stumbled upon a row of stalls with some bees exhibition.

Not much exhibition with some dried bees on display and stalls selling bees product like honey, bees venom (which can cure joint diseases), bee comb, etc. We bought the bee venom for my mom in law, costed RM38 for a small container which has been processed as balm. Hopefully, it will release her pain.

Next stop is Watercress Farm. Again, nothing much, but I like the environment there, very cooling and peaceful.

It's a restaurant in the midst of watercress farm. Well.., I never knew how watercress was grown, now I know after the visit.

Since we were still full from our binge during lunch, we only ordered drinks, Strawberry juice, which is in the rage in Cameron at the moment. And hey.., this juice is not nice, it's not from fresh strawberry, more likely from concentrated juice. :S

Pardon the pics, but the lighting is bad.

One thing that I can recommend about this place is the steamboat though. They are still using charcoal and it smells really delicious. Somemore the place is cool, so you wont sweat all over during the steamboat session. However, I gave it a miss due to the condition of our tummy (red: well fed).

We continued our journey to Bee Farm, nothing worth to mention here, as it really has nothing. Sigh~ Oh yes, entrance is free.

Now the last stop for the day, as well as the most exciting one! Boh Plantation! Phew.., the road to the plantation is dangerous! Lots of turning and with narrow road which only fit for 1 car, do make sure you drive slowly and honk when you are at the turning where you could not see the road ahead.

BUT, please be assured that the danger is worth it! The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful, the air smells so clean and fresh and fragrance! We really need this kind of fresh air in KL!!!

Look at the scenery!!! This pic was taken half way up to the Boh's center.

And guess where this was taken from....

It was from the edge of this place! So it's practically hanging on the air. The feeling was so surreal!

We also went to tour around the factory on how tea was dried and processed. Not bad for knowledge.

We went to look for hotel afterward, since this was an impromptu trip. Luckily we managed to find a budget hotel, which costed us RM110 for 3 pax in 1 room. Not bad for a place to shower and sleep.

Truthfully, I was really exhausted from the day trip, so after checking in around 5.30pm, I dropped dead on the bed until around 7pm. :P Luckily CK woke me up for shower. Man~ Even with heater, the water still feel cold. Maybe that's the difference of mountain fresh water with KL's muddy water. Huh~~

We checked with the hotel receptionist for famous steamboat restaurant, and was introduced to this place called 友好 (You Hao Restaurant), which is packed by local. The steamboat is delicious. We ordered a package for 2 pax, which costed us RM35, plus a plate of their speciality, Belacan Watercress.

Sorry for the unclear pic, with my unsteady hand due to hunger pang. :P As seens here, we ordered Yin Yang steamboat. I love the Tom Yam soup so much!

And yes, although we ordered for 2 pax, the portion was still too much for 3 of us to finish. We were actually struggling to finish it.

Well, kind of regret it, since after our dinner, we went to pasar malam (which held only on Saturday night). OMG!!!! The array of food offered in pasar malam! All so delicious and I really regretted for my steamboat dinner since I can't taste the pasar malam food at all! :(

We bought a kg of fresh and big strawberries at RM15. Quite cheap yeah. :D

For a dumb city gal like me, I always thought sea coconut grows in the sea. Now in Cameron, I learnt differently, it grows on soil one lah!!! First time I saw how it looks like and how it tastes like eaten fresh.

After the tour to pasar malam, we ended it with a little relaxing in our hotel room before dozing off for the next day excursion.

To be continued...... :D
