This came as a jolt, as there was no prior notification from her about this at all, although there was some talk about it previously, but she never confirmed until the fateful morning. CK practically jumped out of the bed when hearing his hp rang (well.., who won't?) and since his Mom said she had arranged for all the stuff for the prayers, we could only say "Yes, sure we can go back!".
After rushing to pack clothes and stuff, we departed at 10am and stopped over Ipoh Tesco for some last minute shopping. Reached Lenggong at around 2pm. Baby's such a gem, she slept through most of the journey in my arms. Love her to bits!
After reaching Lenggong, we stucked in for lunch having our standard menu, what else if not the fish paste, belacan fern, and chinese omellete (芙蓉蛋)?
We visited one of CK's relative next. She was diagnosed with colon cancer, stage 2, which was why CK's mom listed her in the to-visit-agenda. Once done, we went back to the Lenggong home and started cleaning. Actually I just stayed in the car with baby, as we do not want her to be in the dusty room. CK and MIL did all the work. :P
And as per usual again, MIL worked herself to exhaustion. She just cannot stop down and rest when it involved her hometown house. She just kept on cleaning and cleaning, stopped for dinner, slept until 2am in the morning, and wake up to clean again. *Shake head*
As the result, she was just too exhausted for the cemetery cleaning, so she stayed back and took care of baby, while me and CK took over the task.
It was raining heavily the night before, so the cemetery area was quite slippery. First of all, we prayed to the, uhm, how should I say this, guardian God of the cemetery, 大伯公.
Next is the main cemetery 众墓 (those who did not have relative to pray over them).
Afterward was the turn for CK's paternal grandfather. We met some of his relatives there, and prayed together.
While praying, I still could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Ipoh mountains. (Well.., ignore that uncle, ugly scene)
We prayed to CK's paternal great grandmom next, followed by CK's maternal grandfather.
I would say that the area is a total confusion, you would need to remember exactly the location of each particular cemetery, and the compound of each cemetery is quite small.
In my hometown, we could even picnic in the cemetery after the prayer is completed. And much more accessible and cleaner.
Maybe next year, I will bring CK back for the festival. He also needs to get to know my side of family, rite?
