Day 5 - Kyoto - Part 2

I was thinking of putting in 1 day trip to a single post, but it proved to be too long and difficult to shrink everything, hence I decided to split it into 2.

We arrived Nijo Castle, entrance is 600 yen/person.

This is how big the compound is. Can't imagine why Emperors need this big houses for? Oh wait.., this castle is for a Shogun, not Emperor. Imagine the size of an Emperor castle.......

We went into the main castle, however, pictures was prohibited, and we have to take off our shoes, and it's quite dark inside. This according to some of the explanation is to protect the traditional paintings, walls, tatami from the light exposure that will eventually destroy/damage them.

And yes, the floors squeak, but sounds none like nightingale, to protect the shogun from assassins.

And as usual, the beautiful Japanese garden.

Wondering how many shoguns has this tree seen before?

Sakura...., again. Seriously, this is the only place that I saw with pink sakura. The rest are white..., someone please tell me, sakura is supposed to be white or pink? Puzzled.

The Nijo Castle compound is really huge! I was tired from all the walking. Right now imagining, if a maid was trying to find her lord/lady, how did they manage to find where he/she was? Last time there was not handphone rite?

When we got out from Nijo Castle, we found out there was a subway station just across the road from the castle, therefore, we used the subway to reach the Kyoto Main Station (where we store our backpacks in lockers early in the morning before travelling around).

We reached the station around 1pm-2pm, and hunted for our lunch. The Kyoto station itself is rather large with many souvernir shops, restaurants and others.

This was what we had for lunch.

The plastic food looks realistic enough right? Now, stop drooling, this is the how the real food look like.

Hehehe.., start drooling.... since me too, hungry thinking about it. So, in Japan, what you see as sample will be exactly the same with what you get. In Malaysia, what you see is never the same with what you get. LOL....

Now, after feeding, we walked around the station, since our Shinkansen to Hakone would depart at 16.30pm, and we still had 1 hour time to kill.

Ever wonder how much condoms cost in Japan? Here you are. Expensive-nya~~~

Now CK was so tempted to buy the 4D in Japan, he said, "who knows we are lucky in Japan?". I said "Yes, correct, but how are you to know your number strike the grand prize?".

While waiting for our shinkansen to arrive. Fast-desne!

A gift from Asako-san (CK's sister friend from Kyoto)

Our shinkansen from Kyoto to Odawara took about 3 hours, and from Odawara to Hakone by bus around 1 hour.

Once arriving Odawara, we rushed to the JR station office to purchase Hakone 2-Day pass, which costed us 3,900 yen/person. Expensive! But then we found out why.

A bus ride from Odawara to Hakone took around 1 hour and it costed 1,200 yen/person. And this day pass includes every ride that we took in Hakone the next day, which covered bus, cablecar, boat ride, etc.

That is for the next entry.

And once we arrived Hakone, we found our hotel, Fuji Hakone, quite easily. And this is our room.

This is how small our room is.

After dropping everything off our shoulders, we went to hunt for food. Hakone is really cold..., brrrr...... Even covered from head to toe, I still could feel the coldness. Since Hakone is considered as highland, just like Cameron Highland.

We arrived Hakone quite late, around 10pm, so most of the restaurants were closed, so we settled our dinner from Lawson, again bento, but I love their bentos, lots of varieties and delicious. I bought spaghetti and tiramisu, heheh..

We had reserved the outdoor hot spring bath previously, but due to the coldness, I chickened out, changed to indoor hot spring bath. The bath used the natural spring water from the volcanoes nearby, and it's really HOT. Me and CK shared the bath, heheh..., but he is the one who brave through the hot water, as for me, only dipped until thigh part, partly due to my pregnancy as well, since I was told against dipping in the onsen.

Done for the Day 5. Let's continue with Day 6 in the next entry. :D
