Well.., do you believe the saying "Three times lucky"? For me, it doesn't apply. Still failed...., miserably...., sigh~~~
What went wrong?? Until now, I still can't figure it out. I have followed every direction to the dots.
I bought this Pillsbury's Thick 'n Fudgy Deluxe cake mixture, which came with easy and direct step by step instructions.
Looks delicious, yeah?

The instructions

The result? A too-sweet-yet-not-fudgy-chocolate-walnut cake. Humpphhh......~~~ What went wrong? Some expert, please advise?

Right after I completed baking the cake, I started to help my MIL with wrapping rice dumplings. Although the season has passed, she wanted to wrap some for her daughter in Johor. And I willingly help, since it happens to be my favorite sis-in-law. :D
I find it quite funny, as before married, I thought I was doomed and would never know how to pass on the rice dumpling wrapping to my next generation. But lucky me, under my MIL gentle instruction, I have been wrapping for the past 3 years. Hahahhah.., can't believe it right???
Of course, I failed in the beginning. Hey, it's not easy to wrap okay? You will need to make sure the dumpling is a nice triangle from all 4 sides. Definitely patience is greatly needed.
Also, after the wrapping, the tie-ing is also another work of art and I always make mistake in this, which cause the dumpling to spill during the cooking. And this usually makes MIL have to take out all the dumpling, and washes the pot all over again and start again.
Thank God for my lovely MIL. She is just sooo patient even with the mistakes that I have made. If for my own mom, I think she would have trashed me out from kitchen, Hehehhehe......
And look at the results! Am so darn proud that I managed to tie a proper shape rice dumpling. Woahahahhahah.., I am proud that I will be able to pass on this tradition to my daughter(s) and mayber hers.
Big Rice Dumpling

The rice dumpling took us several hours to finish, and for the boiling part well into the night, but I have taken off since I needed to work that night. So the rest was done by MIL.
Mooi.., I'll bet that this will be the tastiest bak-zhang you'll ever had, ehehhe.., imagine our sweat and unwashed hands wrapping the dumplings for you. Hahhahahah..., dun diarrhea after reading this. *joking nia*
After all this hoo-haa..., we prepared for dinner. Scallop + sea cucumber brocolli. Yummy!
