It's all began with my son, who was down with fever, a very high fever at that. First day of fever, MIL said, it's nothing, as usually fever will subside by itself after 3-4 days.
So by the third day, when his fever reached 39.7 degree Celcius (even with night compressing), I was really scared. The next morning, it did seem to subside. But by nighttime, when my bro arrived from HK with his wife and son, his fever reached 39.3 again, and I made an appointment with Dr. Lee by midnight.
And lucky me, it turned out to be my wisest decision ever. So trust your guts, irregardless of what people says!
The appointment was set for 10.30am, and we were there by 10.00am. As usual, Dr. Lee always does a thorough examination on him. Found nothing wrong, until he suggested the test for Influenza A. I agreed to it, though I was quite confident that my son will be cleared from it.
But lo and behold!!! When I went to collect the result after 1 hour later, I was thunderstruck when Dr. Lee said, "He is positive and needs to be hospitalized immediately". My tears started to trickle down without my awareness, and panic started to set in and caused me trembling.
It pained me to hear his cry when Dr. Lee were inserting something on his hand (for drips and others). It pained me again when I needed to bring him for blood test and X-Ray, as he was exhausted, yet needed to be waken to undergo the testing. After all the hustle bustle of the test, we still need to wait for the room.
Look at the needle poking at his hand.

Ideally, we wanted a single bed room as he needed to be isolated. But since the hospital was out of room (selling like hot cakes), we were allocated with 2 bedded room, with the other bed vacant.
Kind of like the spacious room.

Once settled in, the professional nurses set in to take his temperature every 2 hours, gave him his medicine (anti biotic, Tamiflu, etc etc, I lost count). After a little bit of fuss, my baby fell asleep, and wake up a while when CK visited.
Clearing his nose mucus

He refused milk, but that is understandable, therefore I didn't force him. Sigh..., he lost so much weight, and again it pained me.
During his stay in SJMC, I poured all my attention to him, holding him, talking to him, playing with him, carrying him around the room (we were confined), and I could say, he was happy with the pampering. :D
Dr. Sanjay visited him since Dr. Lee was on leave on that weekend. I can say I trust both Dr. Lee and Dr. Sanjay, unlike others, such as Dr. Khoo (MIL found her diagnosis to be doubtful, and I agreed) or Dr. Choy (who I found lacking of moral as a doctor). According to Dr. Sanjay, we would need to monitor his fever, and if it subsided, we could check out by Sunday, which we did. :D
I received lots of calls and sms-es during this period and I really thankful with all the well wishes and attention for my boy. It is spirit uplifting and comforting. Thanks guys!
