Taiping - 20th Aug 2008

We got news by Saturday 16th Aug 2008 that CK's grand aunt (grandmom's sister) has passed away in the morning.

CK's mom is extremely sad about it, and she told me her left eye has been jumping for the past few days. CK's mom is extremely fond of this grand aunt, since the grand aunt was a very kind person and she was the one to help her during confinement for CK's 5th and 6th sister.

I have met the grandaunt twice while visiting Taiping previously, and I can say she had this glow on her face that makes people melt for her instantly, such a kind and happy face.

For her funeral, of course CK's mom insisted to attend it, so on Sunday itself, CK's bro drove her down to Taiping together with Nicole and Amelia. The funeral will be from Saturday until Wednesday.

Both me and CK took leave on 20th Aug 2008 for driving her back from Taiping. We set out to Taiping after work on Tuesday night, started around 8.00pm and arrived at 11.00pm.

Well.., due to my condition, I was forbidden to attend the funeral, so I just stayed put in CK's sis home, stuffing myself with Taiping food and sleep. :D

CK attended the funeral itself upon arriving Taiping and came back at around 12.30am. Poor him.

The next day, we woke up at 10.00 am, went for breakfast in Taiping Market. I went for their famous Fish Ball Char Koey Teow plus the Red Bean Twister (I made this up myself, since they only have the name in Hokkien).

Fish Ball Char Koey Teow

Red Bean Twister, basically is blended red bean plus vanilla ice cream, but it tastes really good!

Afterward, CK brought his mom for the last rite and we departed for Lenggong at 4pm, reached at 5pm.

Our purpose there was only to pick up the baby cot and "ayam kampung" which hardly can be found at all in KL. Ayam Kampung (traditionally bred chicken) essence is very good for preggies, as it is void of any chemical injection as well as feed.

After dinner, we departed from Lenggong at 6.30pm and reached KL at 11.00pm.

Totally it was an exhausting trip, since we still need to work the next day. But I insisted on following, since I do not want my dear hubby to drive alone at night time. Knowing that it is the 7th month Chinese calendar, it's kind of spooky.

I remember there is a pic of the dear grand aunt, will try to dig it out and post it up for remembrance on her.

Rest in Peace, Grand Aunt!
